numerous sea-based activities around the island including
sailing, surfing,

 |
Eating
and drinking:
There are several hundred eateries
in and around Ubud, ranging from simple road-side stalls to
international standard restaurants in world-class hotels.
The latter are also great places for evening cocktails! The
restaurants in town offer a wide range of cuisines including
not just Indonesian, but also Indian, Chinese, Italian, Japanese
and fusion. The standard of cooking is mostly very high, and
the food is generally carefully prepared so that one can safely
eat salads, for example, in most places. |
 |
Entertainment:
There are no nightclubs in Ubud
(one has to go south to Kuta or Sanur for that) but there
are two excellent jazz clubs. There are frequent dance performances
at various temples. |
 |
And,
not to be left out - shopping!
Bali in general and Ubud in particular offer wonderful
shopping opportunities, whether for clothes and accessories,
or local crafts, paintings and antiques. There are several new
and second hand bookshops in Ubud and in the latter one can
buy books in several European languages very cheaply. |
